What are the E-Commerce Options for Trinidad and Tobago Businesses?

Amazon has continually been one of the most visited and used e-commerce websites in Trinidad and Tobago for the last 10 years.  Proving that e-commerce is a very much welcomed and used form of buying goods in the local public.  Within the last 2 years, many local businesses have been providing e-commerce solutions for their local and international customers, especially to keep up with customer expectations and demand amid covid-19 regulations and lockdowns.

Despite this many local businesses still aren’t clear on the process and even options that are available to them.  Here at First Atlantic Commerce, we work with many local banks in Trinidad and Tobago to provide online payment solutions to local merchants.

Here are the E-Commerce Options available for Trinidad and Tobago Businesses:

Each bank in Trinidad and Tobago has a variety of e-commerce options.  We work with local banks to provide a payment gateway that enables merchants to accept and process credit card payments online.  These services include processing online payments via :

  • Website
  • WhatsApp
  • Facebook
  • Instagram

Companies that have a website can contact their bank to learn how they can connect these payment solutions to their backend.  However, these services are not limited to companies that have a website.  Many local banks also offer services that allow companies to process payments on social media. For example, Republic Bank’s E-Pay and First Citizen Bank’s EasyBiz allow companies to accept electronic payments both with and without a website.

What do businesses need to begin their E-commerce journey?

All banks in Trinidad and Tobago will require that a company has an online merchant account.   Some banks may require more information so it is important to contact your bank to learn about their set of specific criteria.

To learn more about the exact e-commerce options available to a business and the set of requirements necessary businesses should contact their bank.  Here is the contact information for each bank we work with and their merchant and e-commerce departments.
