First Atlantic Commerce (FAC) responded immediately to get all systems up and running
Bermuda. July 19, 2024 – A widespread outage linked to a reputable cybersecurity provider disrupted flights, banks, media outlets and companies around the world earlier today, including FAC processing.
Crowdstrike, one of the largest global cyber security technology companies, told customers that the outages were caused by “a defect found in a single content update of its software on Microsoft Windows operating systems,” according to an X post by CEO George Kurtz. He said the incident has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.
FAC’s state of the art platform issues real-time alerts to identify any processing issues. The operations team were able to respond immediately to the incident, which required a fix to all systems.
“Despite the massive global IT incident, FAC rectified the issue as quickly as possible thanks to the expertise of our IT department,” said CEO, Chris Burns.
Many businesses are still struggling to reboot systems. Given the scale of businesses impacted around the globe, it could take days for all impacted computers to return to normal use.
