Millions turning to online discounts over the Christmas period

Shoppers are making savings of up to 60 per cent, with the number of retailers now offering discounts standing at around 3,000.

These include The Body Shop, which is currently offering a voucher code which gives customers 40 per cent savings on orders over £5, as well as free delivery. Homebase is also currently offering a 15 per cent discount on all of its online range.

Many retailers are even launching their online sales early to entice in customers. These include Debenhams, Next and BHS, which are offering a 60 per cent discount on all of its homeware products.

The amount of people using specialist voucher sites to research these codes has also increased over the festive period.

Dominic Yacoubian, chief executive of VoucherComparison, told dailymail.co.uk: “Everybody wants a little extra cash to splash on Christmas presents in December. The easiest way to do this is to take advantage of all the voucher codes on offer.”

A spokesman for NetVoucherCodes also added that it isn’t just lower income families looking for discounts, with their data showing better-off people are looking for savings this Christmas too.

They said: “From our database of members, we have also seen a rise in the number of affluent households now searching our site for voucher codes and discounts.”

It was reported by telegraph.co.uk that people earning at least £60,000 accounted for a fifth of online purchases using money-off vouchers.
