A record-breaking amount of money is set to be spent online next Monday, predict financial analysts.
For the last six years, the Monday after Thanksgiving, dubbed Cyber Monday, has been the day of the year where shoppers spend the most money online and it has been predicted that this will be the case again.
Analysts from Comscore have predicted that spending will eclipse £750 million worldwide for the first time this year, as retailers across the world offer discounts for their online audience.
The news may cause any businesses with an internet merchant account to consider the best ways for them to improve traffic to their website on this day.
According to click2houston.com, a survey of retailers has suggested that a third of retailers will be offering free shipping on Cyber Monday, whilst a similar percentage will be introducing limited time price promotions. It is thought the majority of online stores will be presenting some form of Cyber Monday discount on products.
In an interview with cnn.com, e-commerce analyst Claudia Lombana has warned bosses to expect lower levels of productivity if they allow their employees access to the internet.
“Productivity will be lower than usual on Cyber Monday because people will be shopping from their computers all day,” she said.
