Integrated Point of Sale Payments across the Caribbean with NCR Aloha
Hamilton, Bermuda & Atlanta, GA – March 5, 2019. Powertranz, a sophisticated Bermuda-based Card Present platform provider, and NCR, a global leader in developing transformational transaction technologies, have today announced the successful integration of the Powertranz SDK and payment gateway to the NCR Aloha Point of Sale system.
This, together with Bluefin’s Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) solution, enables quick serve restaurants across the Caribbean to support integrated EMV and PCI Validated P2PE point of sale card processing.
EMV chip technology is the global standard for credit and debit card payments. Named after its original developers (Europay, Mastercard and Visa), the technology uses computer chips to authenticate and secure chip card transactions.
The Powertranz payment gateway is now compliant and integrated with NCR Aloha POS, the platform of sale used by 80,000+ large and small restaurants around the world.
Aloha POS is a cloud-based retail solution designed for various types of dining restaurants that include casual dining, quick service, fast casual and fine dining restaurants. Aloha POS can be used on fixed point of sale (POS) terminals, consumer mobile devices and built-for-purpose handheld devices.
Powertranz currently supports Chip and Pin, Chip and Signature, and Magnetic Stripe read capabilities across 17 Caribbean countries. The fully equipped payment platform features PCI Validated P2PE, the PCI Council’s standard for End-to-End encryption, via Powertranz’s partnership with Bluefin.
PCI validated P2PE encrypts card data at the point of contact with the payment terminal, removing all clear text credit card data from the merchants’ systems. This largely reduces PCI Scope and protects merchants from credit card data breaches.
The Powertranz, NCR and Bluefin solution is now live in one of the largest, global quick serve environment franchises in the Bahamas, and will continue to rollout in additional Bahamian operations. The partnership enables truly integrated POS payments across the Caribbean that significantly improves the ability to reconcile transactions and eliminate card data manual entries.
