It is predicted to be the busiest web shopping day of all time, with shoppers potentially making 115 million visits to web stores and £10,000 worth of online payment transactions each minute.
In fact, experts have predicted that this December as a whole will be one of the busiest for web stores – with £5 billion set to be spent over the month. James Murray, digital insight manager at consumer information giant Experian, said 2012 was definitely set to be a record-breaking year.
He told dailymail.co.uk: “The current market trends suggest that in the UK, Monday December 3rd will be the biggest pre-Christmas day for online retail… with a massive 15 million hours spent online shopping on this day alone.”
Experian also said that the number of visits to online sites would be up 36 per cent on last year’s figures.
Handheld tablet devices, such as the iPad Mini and the Kindle Fire HD, are amongst the most searched-for items on the internet. Additionally, the Furby toy is said to be one of the most sought-after items for kids this Christmas, joining favourites such as Barbie and Scalextric.
